How MyGiftID collects, uses, and protects your personal information.

Data We Collect

When you create a MyGiftID account, you provide us with:

  • Email address — used for account authentication and communication
  • Profile data — including your name, clothing sizes (stored as JSONB), favorite brands, style preferences, and items you'd like to receive as gifts
  • Wishlist items — product names, URLs, images, prices, and priority levels you add to your profile
  • UTM and funnel metadata — source, medium, campaign, and A/B test data from your referral and marketing interactions

How We Use It

Your data is used to:

  • Operate your account and authenticate your sign-ins
  • Power AI-driven gift recommendations and profile-based matching
  • Send your personalized 3-email welcome sequence and occasional product updates
  • Track referral sign-ups so you can earn rewards
  • Measure marketing funnel performance via Google Analytics 4

Third-Party Services

MyGiftID uses the following third-party services:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — for aggregate website analytics. We do not use ad networks or sell data to advertisers.
  • OpenAI via Polsia AI Proxy — for AI-powered gift recommendation features. Your profile data may be processed through this service to generate suggestions.
  • Stripe via Polsia Platform — for processing payments if you purchase premium features.

Cookies

MyGiftID uses the following cookies:

  • Session cookie — pbkdf2-based, 30-day expiry, used to keep you signed in
  • UTM cookie (gl_utm) — 30-day expiry, stores UTM parameters for attribution
  • A/B test cookie (gl_ab_hero_cta_copy) — 30-day expiry, stores your A/B test variant assignment

Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Delete — request that we delete your account and all associated data
  • Opt out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in every email, or by contacting us

Data Retention

Account data is retained until you request deletion. Analytics data is retained per the Polsia platform's data retention policy. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days.
