Plain-language answers about how MyGiftID works — profiles, checkout, the AI Concierge, and gift feedback.
You build your profile in the /dashboard and it publishes at a public handle like https://giftlayer.app/<your-handle> that you control. Only what's on the page is visible to gift-givers — your email, shipping address, and order history stay private.
Anyone who knows your handle can open https://giftlayer.app/<their-handle> directly. From inside the app, signed-in users can also search by name or handle on the /discover page and jump straight to someone's profile.
When a giver pays through /checkout, the order gets attached to the recipient's wishlist item and a confirmation link is queued for the email on file. Once the gift lands, the recipient confirms receipt and rates how well it fit — no awkward texts and no shipping surprises.
The "Send anonymously" toggle on the /checkout page keeps your name off the recipient's confirmation note — only the gift message you write shows, or the gift arrives unannotated if the message is blank. We still keep an internal record so a refund or feedback score can still find its way back to you.
The Concierge reads only what's on your profile — sizes, favorite brands, style notes, and your current wishlist — when generating recommendations. Nothing else from your account is sent, and every reply links to the dashboard so you can see exactly which preferences shaped each pick.
The rating lands in your /dashboard under "Rated gifts" so you can see what hit and what missed. The recipient's fit notes flow back into your profile so future gift-givers skip the same misstep — better suggestions, fewer reruns.
Every payment right now runs on Stripe's test mode using their published test card numbers — no real money moves and no real charge hits your card. The publishable key shown on /checkout is the test-mode key only; live payments switch on once we leave beta, and we'll announce the change in advance. Full details are on the /privacy page.
Your profile, wishlist, and order history live on the Polsia platform's hosted Postgres, encrypted at rest. You can request deletion any time via the /privacy page, and we'll remove your personal data within 30 days.
